What people say about Grow. Eat. Share.
"One of my favorite memories is of my son the day he came home from his first gardening class with Laura at the Mustard Seed. The first thing he did was ask me if we could please go the grocery store for some fresh ingredients to add to the ones he brought home with him from the garden class, along with some great new recipes.
We did just that. He got his own cart and picked each item out himself.
We had just got back home and I was trying to figure out where my son had gone. I learned that he had gone to three neighbor’s houses to see if they had a food processor that we could borrow.
He quickly came back and proudly showed me that he was ready to begin making an exciting smiley face pizza with pesto sauce and salsa which he learned about and made in class.
He spent about three hours that night creating his masterpiece pizza and amazing salsa! It was very exciting to me to watch him work so hard and to have so much fun.
We did, eventually, go to Kohl’s and got a great deal on a ‘mini’ processor, which I was glad to buy instead of a new video game!!
The excitement, learning and dedication to Jacob’s own new garden, has never ended. Laura has truly fulfilled an interest in my son’s life and has encouraged him to grow. Now I am learning from him!! This is our third year learning form Laura and he is planting a salsa garden. Thank you, Laura, The Mustard Seed and Community Ed for the amazing program you offer to our kids!!"

"Laura Greene's Grow. Eat. Share. is such a creative, fun way to extend our young people's understanding of active, healthy living and the simple joy of sharing nature's bounty with others. She understands the best place to do this, for both her and our youth, is out-of-doors. I am so proud to have been a teacher of this inspiring young role model for the generation that follows."

"As a young boy, I recall one of my fondest memories was the year our school sponsored a vegetable garden. My responsibility was to grow carrots. My garden consisted of a small portion of our yard on the West side of our home bordered by an apartment building and a very large and thick lilac bushes. You may imagine the carrots turned out awfully small because they didn't receive enough sunlight. They received attention, water and some level of patience...or such that a third grader may have. In spite of my excessively small carrots, I learned about the value of vegetables in the diet, and more important was the lesson I learned about life. The lessons of nurturing, patience and love. I also learned that to grow something big and strong it needs a solid foundation. A foundation that can be enhanced through a child's participation in the Grow. Eat. Share program."
- Ted D. Rogers, C.E.O., Casualty Assurance of Chaska
"Laura has founded a program which really hits the mark. It addresses the importance of nutrition and being a physically active child. Grow. Eat Share. offers the children of Carver County an opportunity to have fun while participating in an exciting life-long learning activity - gardening. The program is developmentally appropriate and allows kids to have fun as they garden, learn to make some healthy recipes and most importantly allow their creative energies to be channeled in a positive manner."
